Highly efficient phase-tunable photonic thermal diode

We investigate the photon-mediated thermal transport between a superconducting electrode and normal metal. When quasiparticle contribution can be neglected, channel becomes an efficient heat relaxation process for superconductor at low temperatures, being larger than intrinsic due to electron–phonon interaction. Furthermore, superconductor–normal metal system acts as nearly perfect diode, with rectification factor up 108 realistic aluminum superconductor. The also tuned in phase-controlled fashion through non-galvanic coupling, realized by changing magnetic flux piercing quantum interference device, which modifies coupling impedance scheme exploited passive cooling circuits transferring toward metallic pads where it dissipates more efficiently or general management purposes.
